Terms of Use

These Terms govern use of the License Preparation - SA web application. By using the application, you accept these Terms. If you do not accept them, do not use the application.

1. Platform purpose

The application is a preparation, checklist and information-gathering tool for South African firearm competency, firearm licence and renewal readiness. It is intended to help users organise information and supporting documents before dealing with SAPS, CFR, an accredited training provider or a qualified adviser.

2. Not an official service

The application is not operated by SAPS, the Central Firearms Registry, any regulator, any court, or any accredited firearm training body. It does not submit applications to SAPS and does not issue competency, proficiency or licence documents.

3. No legal advice

Content is general information only. It is not legal advice and does not create an adviser-client relationship. Users remain responsible for checking current requirements with SAPS, accredited providers or suitably qualified professionals.

4. User responsibility

You are responsible for ensuring that all information you record, export, submit or rely on is complete, truthful, current and appropriate for your circumstances. The application must not be used to create false statements, misleading motivations, fraudulent records or unlawful applications.

5. Accredited training

The application does not replace accredited firearm training, proficiency testing, competency assessment or any statutory requirement. Where training or accreditation is required, users must work with properly accredited providers.

6. Prohibited use

You may not use the application to avoid lawful checks, bypass eligibility requirements, misrepresent facts, interfere with official processes, promote unlawful possession, or produce offensive or tactical weapon-use material.

7. Third-party providers

Any provider directory, listing, contact detail or recommendation prompt is informational unless clearly stated otherwise. The platform does not guarantee any provider's accreditation, availability, pricing, conduct, service quality or outcome. Users must verify provider details independently.

8. Local draft storage

The current static web application stores draft progress in the browser using localStorage. This means the draft remains on the same browser and device unless cleared. It is not synced across devices. Anyone with access to the device and browser profile may be able to view the saved draft.

9. No guarantee of approval

Completing the wizard, checklist, quiz or motivation prompts does not guarantee competency approval, licence approval, renewal approval, processing speed or any other outcome.

10. Changes to the platform

The platform may be changed, withdrawn, corrected, restricted or discontinued at any time. Content may become outdated and should be reviewed against current official sources before use.

11. No liability

To the maximum extent allowed by law, the platform owners, contributors, operators, affiliates and service providers accept no liability for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, consequential or other loss, damage, refusal, delay, administrative issue, missed deadline, failed application, rejected application, inaccurate output, outdated information, data loss, device issue or reliance on the application or its exported content.

12. Limitation of liability

Where liability cannot lawfully be excluded, liability is limited to the maximum extent permitted by South African law. Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot legally be excluded.

13. Governing law

These Terms are intended to be governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa, subject to any mandatory consumer protection rights that may apply.
